Together with a few friends, I\u2019m spending a few days in the Veluwe, a surprise trip organised for one of our 50th birthdays. No obligations, just focusing on being together! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the camper we stay at Minicamping Molenallee<\/a> in Loenen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The sun was shining when we got up, so we'd set up everything outside and had a long breakfast in the sun. After that, we wanted to go for a walk. And as the Loenense Enkenpad passes our campsite, we decide to walk this one. I verified the route on the 'Klompenpadenapp'. But even without the app, the route is very easy to follow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From our campsite we turn left and follow the street of the same name as our camping, Molen-Allee, to the Hoofdweg, where we turn left. On the right we see a number of wagons of the Veluwsche Stoomtrein Maatschappij (VSM) on a platform. On Sundays between April and October, tourist steam trains run between Dieren and Apeldoorn and this is one of the stops. It is Tuesday, so no ride for us today. We cross the track and see on the left in the distance Kasteel Ter Horst<\/a> (1557). Only back at home, I discover that our camp site was actually located on the estate of this castle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the castle, we turn right and follow this path until we reach the grounds of De Groote Modderkolk. This biological care farm used to belong to Natuurmonumenten, but is now owned by Herenboeren. The forest rangers of Natuurmonumenten still have an office there, and it is the starting point of beautiful hiking trails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We continue our route along the Vrijenbergweg. At an intersection, where we turn onto a country road, we stop for a moment at a monument commemorating Robert Etlin<\/strong>, a 24-year-old Jewish Frenchman, who was killed here on March 21, 1945, when his Spitfire went down.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

We cross the Beekbergerweg and walk along sandy paths through the Loenense Enk <\/a>nature reserve and the Harmanahof botanical garden. At the junction of the Bruisbeek and Bergakkerweg, we decide to shorten the route. Passing through Hameinde, we arrive a little later at Eetcaf\u00e9 't Ruifje, where we had a wonderful meal just a few days ago. We decide to stop for a drink before completing the final stretch of our walk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Almost directly opposite the caf\u00e9, the route continues along a sandy path, leading to the Slatsdijk. From there, we turn left and then right at the next street. Now we are back on Molen-Allee, and just a few meters further, we reach our campsite.. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
